Hiking Holiday in the Harz — Right on the Doorstep
A hiking holiday in the Harz starts here not at a trailhead car park but at the front door: the Lindnerhof stands in the Harz village of Lerbach near Osterode — in the middle of the forest, with two long-distance trails right by the village.
Harzer Hexenstieg
The best-known trail in the Harz passes five minutes on foot from the house. Its first stage runs from Osterode via Lerbach to Buntenbock (just under 11 kilometres) — and if you like, you can carry on for several days across the Brocken all the way to Thale.
Harzer Försterstieg
The 60-kilometre Försterstieg from Goslar to Riefensbeek-Kamschlacken runs straight through Lerbach. You can walk a stage in either direction mid-holiday — towards Bad Grund, or past the Söse reservoir towards Riefensbeek. Waymark: a green oak leaf.
BaudenSteig
For day hikes: BaudenSteig loop no. 2 is a roughly 9-kilometre circuit around Lerbach. If you want more, take the second BaudenSteig stage from Lerbach to Sieber — a good 20 kilometres and 700 metres of climbing, past the Hanskühnenburg in the middle of the Harz National Park.
Söse reservoir
For an easier day: a roughly 9-kilometre circular path runs around the Söse reservoir, a few kilometres from the village — little climbing, plenty of views.
And afterwards
Back in Lerbach your holiday apartment is waiting: a kitchen for a hiker's appetite, a garden with barbecue and seating area for the evening. And if your dog hikes with you: dogs are welcome here.
